Say ?I Do? on a Glacier with Norwegian?s New Wedding Program Jul 23rd 2013, 12:38

Ever been to a wedding on an Alaskan glacier? Or in a 100-year-old plantation house overlooking the Caribbean? Those are just a few of the options in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new customizable wedding program.

Currently, about 350 couples get married during a Norwegian cruise each year. That number is likely to rise with the new options offered in partnership with Vancouver-based Royal Ocean Events. Ceremonies can be held on the ship at sea or while docked in select ports. Or, couples can choose to tie the knot ashore in Norwegian’s domestic homeports (including Miami, New Orleans, Boston and New York) or select ports of call in Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean and Bermuda. Packages are priced from $1,600.

Among the venues on shore: a glacier near Juneau, priced from $3,595; at Grand Old House on Grand Cayman, from $2,895; and the Greek island of Santorini, from €3,700. Other ports of call offered include Honolulu, Kauai, Maui, Cozumel, Bermuda, St. Kitts and Aruba.

All packages include an officiant or ship officer to perform the ceremony, a wedding planner and an on-site wedding coordinator, private ceremony location, vows, bride’s bouquet and groom’s boutonniere, pre-recorded ceremony music, a bottle of sparkling wine, keepsake wedding certificate and wedding cake.

Couples can add on spa and beauty treatments, flowers, décor and ceremony enhancements, live music, photography and videography, transportation between the ship and wedding location and priority check-in. Wedding reception options include a cocktail reception with gourmet selections and open bar or a four-course, sit-down luncheon with wine.

Norwegian also offers a $299 vow renewal package that includes a bottle of sparkling wine, a cake for two, a vow renewal certificate, dinner for two in Le Bistro, an 8-by-10 portrait, sparkling wine and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to their stateroom and a bouquet of flowers or $50 onboard credit for print photos. The Deluxe Vow Renewal package also includes a private ceremony by the ship’s captain, an invitation to tour the bridge while in port.

For those looking to pop the question at sea, an engagement package includes an onboard proposal setting, a bouquet of red roses, sparkling wine and strawberries in the stateroom, two 25-minute Swedish massages, in-room tea service, breakfast in bed for two, and dinner for two in Le Bistro. Prices start at $399.
